Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge: Tournament Guide

The Road to Mallorca heads to France for the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge. Here’s everything you need to know for the week ahead.

The leading Frenchman on the Challenge Tour French Order of Merit will earn a spot at the Cazoo Open de France at Le Golf National, which takes place in September. The French Order of Merit consists of two events on the Road to Mallorca, the Blot Open de Bretagne and this week’s Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge.

Ugo Coussaud is currently in pole position to qualify for the Cazoo Open de France after he finished in sixth place at the Blot Open de Bretagne, while Robin Sciot-Siegrist finished in a tie for 11th. Frenchman including, Cryil Bouniol, Adrian Saddier, Grégory Bourdy, Sébastien Gros, Anthony Grenier and Félix Mory will be looking for a strong performance in Le Vaudreuil this week to secure their place in the Cazoo Open de France.

Marcel’s return to the winner’s circle

Four-time DP World Tour winner Marcel Siem ended a seven year winless drought after securing a first Challenge Tour title at the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge last season, which also earnt him a spot at The 149th Open - where he finished in a share of 15th. Siem went on to finish in the top 20 on the 2021 Road to Mallorca Rankings to secure a return to the DP World Tour.

The Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge has proven to be an important event to win on the Challenge Tour schedule, with six of the last eight champions currently playing on the DP World Tour. Last year’s winner Siem, 2018 champion Richard McEvoy, Aaron Rai, who won the 2017 event, 2016 winner Alexander Björk, 2015 champion Ryan Fox and Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston, who won in 2014, are all now playing and have won on the DP World Tour.
