Brandon Stone won his first Challenge Tour title as he overcame three of his countrymen in a play-off at the Limpopo Championship. Here is what you might have missed from the opening event of the season.

Graduation first, win second

The sight of Brandon Stone at a Challenge Tour event is a rarity these days, and that is because he graduated in 2015. The South African finished second twice en route to earning his European Tour card six years ago, but teed it up this week as a Sunshine Tour member. Stone has been one of the most successful graduates of recent years and it is fitting that he finally has that Challenge Tour victory to his name.

We know it’s early to be talking about the Shot of the Year, but Brandon Stone’s approach to the par five ninth hole on Sunday has to be in with a shout.
