Parry makes fast start to DP World Tour life

John Parry made an impressive start to his 2023 DP World Tour campaign after he finished in a tie for fourth at the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship in Brisbane last week.

The Englishman secured his DP World Tour card in dramatic style just over three weeks ago at the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by The R&A. The 36-year-old entered the season finale in 34th position on the Road to Mallorca Rankings but after finishing in a tie for second at the Rolex Grand Final he catapulted 17 places into the top 20 to secure his top tier playing privileges.

“It was a unique environment out there because I went from trying to win the tournament to looking at where I need to finish to secure my card,” he said.

“I knew I had to play well this week and probably finish second or third on my own to stand a chance of getting my card so that made it a little bit easier. It was a nerve-racking day but I’m happy it all worked out in the end.

“I’m really excited for next year because it’s been quite a few years since I’ve had my DP World Tour card and it’s been a struggle at times. I’m so happy to be back next year and hopefully I can kick on.”

The 2007 Walker Cup player made it back-to-back promotions after securing his Challenge Tour card through the EuroPro Tour last year and he is now searching for a second DP World Tour title, 13 years after victory at the 2010 Vivendi Cup.
