The German played the first seven tournaments of the Challenge Tour season in a combined four over par, but recovered miraculously to play his final eight tournaments in an astounding 81 under par.

Known as a player who is not afraid of going low, Heisele’s season turned around in August when he fired an opening round of 61, ten under par, at the KPMG Trophy. Whatever clicked that day must have stayed with him as he finished in a tie for 13th place that week in Belgium before going on a phenomenal run for the rest of the season.

The 31-year-old won the very next week at the Open de Bretagne, and then collected a third place finish, as well as two runner-up showings— including at the Challenge Tour Grand Final— to finish fourth on the Road to Mallorca Rankings in only 15 starts all season.

Standing at six feet and six inches, Heisele is easy to spot on the golf course, but if his form from the second half of the Challenge Tour season is any indication, he should be easy to spot at the top of European Tour leaderboards as well.
