The 2026 Road to Mallorca gets under way this week, with the SDC Open marking the first of four co-sanctioned events with the Sunshine Tour. Returning to Zebula Golf Estate & Spa for a fifth time, this is the first opportunity for players to earn points on this year’s Road to Mallorca. Here are three players to keep an eye on…
Form horse: Herman Loubser
Herman Loubser is enjoying his best season to date and arrives at Zebula in third place on the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit after racking up a win and three second place finishes in a six-event stretch at the start of their season season. The South African ended 2025 in fine fashion too, teeing it up in the Sunshine Tour’s co-sanctioned events with the DP World Tour, where he finished tied 14th at the Alfred Dunhill Championships, and 20th in the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. The 26-year-old is no stranger to Zebula either, having teed it up in the last three editions of the SDC Open, making the cut on each occasion.
Local Boy: Jovan Rebula
Jovan Rebula narrowly missed out on promotion to the DP World Tour only a few months ago, ending his debut season on the HotelPlanner Tour just one spot outside the graduation places. The South African knows Zebula well having finished 20th in last year’s SDC Open with a four-round total of eight under par, and will be hoping for another strong start to the season as he targets promotion at the second time of asking. The 28-year-old has featured twice on the Race to Dubai already this season, finishing tied 25th in his last outing at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
Outsider: Baard Skogen
Baard Skogen tees it up in South Africa after enjoying a breakout debut season on the HotelPlanner Tour last year. The Norwegian recorded four top ten finishes in 2025, with the first of those coming in the season-opening SDC Open 12 months ago. On that occasion, Skogen carded rounds of 68-69-71-68 to end the week on 12 under par and in a share of fifth place. The 24-year-old would end the year 33rd on the 2025 Road to Mallorca and will hoping that another fast start in the Rainbow Nation can help him better that this time around.
