The Challenge Series 2013 - Episode Twelve

The European Challenge Tour has something of a reputation for breaking new ground.

Since 1989 it’s sought out uncharted golfing destinations, staging events from Cuba to Colombia, Kenya to Kazakhstan.

25 years on and the journey continues.

In keeping with tradition the final exciting instalment of The 2013 Challenge Series also covers much ground. From Guangdong province in China to the Indian Ocean coast of Oman, the Tour approaches a thrilling climax in Asia.

One man on the cusp of qualification for the season-ending Grand Final in Dubai is Jason Barnes. Determined to avoid the stresses of his situation, this ‘Englishman abroad’ turned his hand to a spot of traditional Chinese handicraft – and our cameras went along to share the experience.

Meanwhile record crowds were out to witness events unfold at Foshan Golf Club, a sign of golf’s continued growth in China, though it’s not just the Far East enjoying a golfing boom.

The National Bank of Oman Golf Classic is the first event of its kind ever witnessed in Oman and as the Sultanate’s leading amateur Azzan Al-Ruhmy can testify the sport is developing apace in Muscat.

We’ll have highlights from these two crucial tournaments alongside an in-depth look ahead to next week’s dramatic climax in the UAE.

In all it promises to be a fitting finale to another scintillating season on The Challenge.
