Three to Watch: Dormy Open

The European Challenge Tour is in Sweden for the Dormy Open this week. Here are three players to keep an eye on at Österåkers Golfklubb…

Form horse: Nick Bachem

Nick Bachem (4)

Germany’s Nick Bachem has enjoyed an impressive first season on the Challenge Tour and arrives in Sweden full of confidence after he finished in second place at last week’s Frederikshavn Challenge - Presented by HESSEL, three shots behind countryman Freddy Schott. Bachem graduated to the Challenge Tour after finishing third on the Pro Golf Tour’s Order of Merit in 2021 and is now targeting back-to-back graduations as he sits in 17th position on the Road to Mallorca Rankings – with the top 20 earning DP World Tour playing privileges for 2023.

Local boy: Mikael Lindberg

Mikael Lindberg (2)

Mikael Lindberg is looking for a strong performance on home soil this week to elevate him into the top 20 on the Rankings. The Swede currently occupies 35th position following some stand-out performances, including a third place finish at the Challenge de España. The 29-year-old finished in 12th position at last year’s Dormy Open after recording rounds of 71-71-68-70 and he will be hoping to build on that this time around.

The outsider: Robin Petersson

Robin Petersson

Robin Petersson may sit outside the top 50 on the Road to Mallorca Rankings, however he arrives on home soil in fine form. The Swede finished in a tie for third at the Cazoo Classic on the DP World Tour last month before recording a 12th place finish the following week at the Irish Challenge. Petersson’s most recent impressive performance came at the ISPS Handa World Invitational presented by AVIV Clinics on the DP World Tour, where he finished tenth.
