Anton Albers will be looking for a repeat of last year’s success this week at the Rosa Challenge Tour in Poland on a course he’s enjoyed in recent years.
As the business end of the season approaches, Albers will be looking to score vital Road to Mallorca points to bolster his position on the Rankings ahead of the season’s climax. The German, who won the Raiffeisenbank Golf Challenge in July, returns to Rosa Golf Club after enjoying his season-best finish at the 2025 edition, where he finished in second place.
“It's always good to come back to a place where you've done well in the past,” he said. “This is a course where you have to position yourself well off the tee. There's a few holes where it gets quite narrow in the spots where you want to be, and you have to avoid the water and the fairway bunkers. You've got to be very precise with everything really.
“Hopefully I'll get a good week like I did here last year.”
Albers’ second placed finish at last year’s Rosa Challenge was an important one, taking him to 22nd place on the season-long Rankings, but despite remaining on the HotelPlanner Tour after narrowly missing out on promotion, he is still learning plenty about his game this campaign.
“It's always a process,” he added. “You learn a lot just by playing every week. This year has been a little bit different than recent years for me, as I was in full category start of the year, so I knew I was going to get into every event that I wanted to play, so that made the planning a little bit easier.
“Obviously the game has to improve as well, this year has been not as consistent as I would like it to be, but on this tour you've got to really take advantage of the weeks where you have your game and it was nice that I could do that in the Czech Republic.
“I'm in a good position now but I've still got to keep going, it's even harder this year with just being 15 cards, and everyone is playing really well.”
The 27-year-old played at the Danish Golf Championship on the DP World Tour last month, making his first cut on Golf’s Global Tour with rounds of 73-69-70-72 to finish in a tie for 39th place, a result that has proven positive for the German’s confidence ahead of the battle for promotion on the HotelPlanner Tour.
“It's nice to see where your game's at and get a bit of a taste what's going on over there, as the course setups are a little bit different out on the DP World Tour. Just to see that the game is good enough to compete on any level is really nice to see, but it was also one of my goals to start the year to play a few events out there and put myself out there and see how I can compare it to some of the other guys that play out there, and it was nice that I got the opportunity to do that a few weeks back in Denmark.
“Obviously promotion is one of the goals that you set at the beginning of the year and I'm happy that I am in a position where I really have the chance to do so but I still need to keep my foot down and score some more points and really take advantage of some of the weeks out here.”
Albers is part of a strong field at this week’s Rosa Challenge Tour including European Ryder Cup star Chris Wood and four-time DP World Tour winner David Horsey.
