Anton Albers sealed his maiden HotelPlanner Tour title with a three-stroke victory at the Raiffeisenbank Golf Challenge at Kaskáda Golf Resort.
The German signed for a six under par 65 on the final day to reach 20 under, three shots clear of American Alex Goff, who had set the clubhouse target of 17 under par.
The 27-year-old was delighted to close out the victory after starting the day in a three-way tie for the lead.
“It feels amazing,” he said. “I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time and I’m glad it finally came.
“Even though I was in the lead, I didn’t think too much about the scores, I just tried to keep going and keep the momentum up but looking at the scores now, it’s quite nice.
“It was nice to have a week off last week and have a reset. We’re only halfway through the season, and I was in a similar situation at this point last year.
“I told myself not to worry about the results too much and just do the right things and the results will follow.
“I’m over the moon it just happened to be this week.”
The German carded a four under par 32 on the front nine on the final day before dropping his first shot of the weekend at the par four 12th. He bounced back with three birdies in the following four holes before parring his remaining two holes to secure the victory in Brno.
“I try not to look at the leaderboard at all,” he added. “On the fairway on 18 I had a quick look and saw that I had a three-shot lead, but during the round, not that much.
“Hamish told me in scoring after, when I dropped that putt [on the 13th] that’s it, even though I didn’t see it in that moment, it was huge.
“After that, everything happened so quick.”
Albers jumps 81 places to 17th on the season-long Road to Mallorca Rankings and puts himself into contention for promotion to the DP World Tour after narrowly missing out last year.
“I’m in a good position now, but everything happens so quickly in this game. If you had asked me last week, I’d have said different.
“It’s been a lot of managing expectations after coming close last year but it’s good to get the win under my belt, but I still need to keep doing what I’m doing and not worry about the results too much.”
American Goff signed for a final round 65, to finish in a share of second alongside Japan’s Tatsunori Shogenji, who pulled himself into contention on the final day with five back nine birdies to finish on 17 under par. The pair finished one shot ahead of Englishman Callum Tarren and Denmark’s Kristian Hjort Bressum.
The top of the Road to Mallorca Rankings remains the same with South African MJ Daffue holding top spot, Spaniard Pablo Ereno and Denmark’s Hamish Brown in second and third respectively. Julien Sale and Maxence Giboudot round out the top five.
The Road to Mallorca now heads to Estonia for the Infortar Estonian Challenge which takes place at Estonian Golf & Country Club from July 30- August 02.
