Fontanals Golf club, located in Girona, is a wonderful parkland golf course and has played host to the Second Stage of DP World Tour Qualifying School for the past two years.

The HotelPlanner Tour will have a strong presence in Spain in 2025 with the Challenge de España being followed by the Challenge de Cadiz at Iberostar Real Golf Novo Sancti Petri from May 29 – June 1.

The two events in Spain reinforce the commitment of the HotelPlanner Tour and the Royal Spanish Golf Federation to provide more opportunities for golfers in Spain seeking to establish themselves at the highest levels of European and world golf.

Jaime Salaverri, Vice President and President of the Competition Committee of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, said: “It is a source of pride for Spain to have two tournaments again in 2025. These tournaments not only help to showcase the level of our courses, but also the talent of our players, who will be able to measure themselves on top-level stages. Our commitment to these two great courses is aimed at getting players, in their training process, used to playing on golf courses that are at the level of the DP World Tour. We have many examples of players, most recently Joel Moscatel and Angel Ayora, who are consolidating themselves on the DP World Tour after their successful time on the HotelPlanner Tour and even some of them, such as Alejandro del Rey, winning this year.”

Ramón Puyol, President of Fontanals Golf Club, said: “It is a great leap to host a HotelPlanner Tour tournament. We have hosted the Qualifying School of the DP World Tour on several occasions, and we are very happy to make our course available to the Tour. We are very much looking forward to seeing the players we have already met during the qualifiers and who we would love to see succeed at Fontanals.”

Javier Gervás, Managing Director of JGolf, said: “A great institutional effort has been made to position our country as a reference in international golf. The choice of two courses in this category reinforces our commitment to excellence and to giving players the opportunity to compete at the highest level, which year after year they are demonstrating, making the leap to the DP World Tour. We are working to make both events a success for players and fans alike”.
