Danish Golf Challenge: Tournament Guide

The Danish Golf Challenge is the third European stop on the Road to Mallorca, and the eighth event of the year. Here’s all you need to know…

A return to Odense

Following Jonathan Gøth-Rasmussen’s narrow victory last year over Calum Fyfe at Bogense Golf Club, the Danish Golf Challenge returns to 2000 and 2024 venue Odense Eventyr Golf Club, some 20 miles down the road. Odense, the third largest city in Denmark, saw Andreas Halvorsen come out victorious two years ago, winning by three shots. The HotelPlanner Tour has regularly stopped in Denmark, with a range of courses hosting the event, but this is just the third year the tournament has been played under the title of the Danish Golf Challenge. Odense Eventyr Golf Club, an open parkland set on undulating terrain, is one of Denmark’s best-rated championship courses, having also hosted international events including the European Amateur Championship and the Nykredit Masters on the Ladies European Tour. The word ‘Eventyr’ means ‘fairy tale’ and each hole is named after a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, who was born in Odense.

Past Winners

Scandinavians are the theme for past winners, with Swede Fredrik Henge shooting ten under par at Odense Eventyr in 2000, before Norwegian Halvorsen posted 19 under par in 2024. Goth-Rasmussen’s win last year continued this theme, with the Dane also ending on 19 under for the week, so low scoring can be expected this year. DP World Tour winner Matteo Mannasero has also been crowned champion in recent years.

U.S. Open Qualifying

It could prove a long week for some players, with U.S. Open Final Qualifying having taken place at Walton Heath Golf Club on May 18, the Monday of the Danish Golf Challenge. Tapio Pulkkanen, Callum Farr and Jhared Hack all played before flying out to Denmark, with Pulkkannen coming closest to qualifying by shooting eight under par for two rounds, falling two shots short. Road to Mallorca leader MJ Daffue also played well shooting five under par but does not feature in the field this week.
