The Road to Mallorca heads to England for the second time this year, this time for the English Trophy. Here are three players to keep an eye out for this week…
Form Horse: Andrew Wilson
It was a slow start to the season for Englishman Andrew Wilson, but the 32-year-old has found his form in recent weeks. Wilson has made each of his last six cuts, accruing two solo second place finishes at the Infortar Estonian Challenge last month and last week’s Rosa Challenge Tour, as well as finishing in a share of eighth in Scotland to vault up the Rankings. Playing in the final group last week in Poland, he was pipped to the line by compatriot John Gough, who holed gutsy putts on the 71st and 72nd holes to take the win. Nevertheless, Wilson now sits in 11th, well in the mix for a DP World Tour card, and will be hoping for another strong finish on home soil this week. Can he go one better than his two recent runner up finishes in front of the home crowd?
Local Boy: John Gough
This week’s local boy is John Gough. The Englishman hails from Berkshire and his home course, The Berkshire, is a mere 15 miles from this week’s venue, so the two-time 2026 winner is in familiar surroundings. Fresh off the back of his second win of the season last week at the Rosa Challenge Tour, Gough would dearly love to get that all important third win so close to home that would secure his DP World Tour card early, and ease the pressure going into the crunch part of the season. The Caversham, host of this week’s English Trophy, is a happy hunting ground for Gough, being the site of his second Clutch Pro Tour win, so the 27-year-old knows how to get it done on a course he knows well. Gough will be staying in his own bed this week, so will home comforts play a part this week as he looks to go back-to-back?
Outsider: Charlie Forster
It’s an English triple up this week with Charlie Forster being the outsider. Forster plays as an invite this week and, despite not having full playing status throughout the season, he has had an excellent campaign. Six times the 23-year-old has finished in the top fifteen, with another two finishes in the top 20, boosting him to 54th in the Road to Mallorca Rankings. His best finish came in the shape of a share of eight at the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge, and the young Englishman will be hoping to continue his consistent form this week in his homeland.
