Callum Farr hit the opening tee shot of the SDC Open at Zebula Golf Estate & Spa, as the 2026 HotelPlanner Tour season got under way in South Africa.
The SDC Open marks the first event of the 30-tournament Road to Mallorca schedule, which will visit 20 different countries across three continents over the next ten months.
Englishman Farr, who secured full playing privileges on the HotelPlanner Tour after recording three victories on the Clutch Pro Tour in 2025, was excited to get the season under way as he bids for back-to-back promotions.
“It feels good,” he said. “I feel like I’ve been waiting a little while to get the season started, so now that it’s finally here, I’m excited.
“It’s my first time in South Africa and I really like it here. The course is good, there’s animals everywhere which is pretty nice to see on the course and so it should be a good week.
“Hopefully this season can be as good as last year. I’m looking forward to travelling around a lot more and playing all over the world.
“I think if I can give myself chance to win a few times going into the back nine on a Sunday would be really nice, and if I can do that, I think I’ll have a really good chance of progressing again hopefully.”
The SDC Open is the first of four co-sanctioned events between the HotelPlanner Tour and the Sunshine Tour, with the Road to Mallorca then travelling to India and the UAE before reaching mainland Europe for the first time in May.
A run of 19 events in a 20-week stretch across Europe is followed by back-to-back weeks in China, before the season-ending Rolex Grand Final supported by The R&A at Club de Golf Alcanada. At its conclusion, 15 players will earn one of the life-changing DP World Tour cards on offer.
