George O’Grady, Chief Executive of The European Tour, welcomed Tommy Fleetwood, last year’s Challenge Tour Number One, as stepped onto the tee to hit the opening tee shot of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.
Fleetwood was first off the tenth tee, leading a star studded cast included just two groups behind the formidable three-ball of World Number One Luke Donald, World Number Three Rory McIlroy and 14-time Major Champion Tiger Woods.
Fleetwood topped the 2011 Challenge Tour Rankings and is embarking on his rookie season. And the young Englishman has started well by finishing joint 18th in the Africa Open and joint 37th in the Joburg Open the following week.
