Deon Germishuys is looking to continue his fast start to the 2026 HotelPlanner Tour season, when he tees it up in the CIRCA Cape Town Open at Royal Cape Golf Club this week.
The South African tees it up in the second of four co-sanctioned events between the HotelPlanner Tour and the Sunshine Tour having narrowly missed out on a maiden title just last week.
The 26-year-old, who is no stranger to Royal Cape Golf Club, is hoping to carry that form into another week, and has his sights set on a third promotion to the DP World Tour, having graduated to Golf’s Global Tour in both 2022 and 2024.
“I grew up about 30 minutes from here, so I love coming back,” he said. “I played a lot of junior golf here, so it's a lot of good memories and I love Cape Town, so it's always nice to be back.
“I've got promoted twice and hopefully I can do it a third time as well and then stay out on the DP World Tour. Putting points on the board early, like I did last week, is obviously massive.”
The South African is looking to take full advantage of playing on home soil and says accuracy off the tee and dealing with the swirling wind in the Mother City could be key on the parkland layout.
“The wind is a big factor, so you are really trying to hit it straight, trying to hit fairways,” he added.
“Fairways, greens and making putts. Obviously, it sounds like a bit of a cliché because golf is just that easy, isn't it? But if you can hit fairways and greens and then try to hit as many putts as you can, I think you'll be fine.”
Germishuys joins a strong field in Cape Town this week that includes SDC Open champion MJ Viljoen from South Africa and DP World Tour winners Tom Lewis from England, South African Haydn Porteous and German Yannik Paul.
