The Final Swing begins in Hainan this week, with increased prize funds and increased Road to Mallorca points available. Here are three players who will be looking to take advantage this week as the 2026 Road to Mallorca approaches its climax...
Form Horse: Tapio Pulkkanen
Finn Tapio Pulkkanen comes into the Hainan Open in fine form. The two-time HotelPlanner Tour winner has registered two top ten finishes in his last three starts, adding to the two he had already secured earlier in the season that included his victory at the Danish Golf Challenge. The standout from the last three was finishing runner up to Liam Nolan at last week’s Abu Dhabi Challenge. That finish saw him rise from 13th in the Rankings to a much more secure 6th spot, leaving him within touching distance of a return to the DP World Tour. With last week reducing the pressure on Pulkkanen, look out for the 36-year-old this week.
Local Boy: Bo Peng
Chinese golfer Bo Peng is the man to watch on home soil this week, having won the most recent event on the China Tour at the Shaanxi Open a couple of weeks ago. It was Peng’s second win of 2026 in China, the first coming at the Shanghai Open where he shot a final round 12 under par 60 to reach an unbelievable 33 under par and win by ten. The 25-year-old has also made two starts on the DP World Tour this season, missing the cut at the Hainan Classic before shooting rounds of 71-66-68-70 to finish in a share of 13th at the Volvo China Open. Peng will be hoping his form in Hainan this time round is better as he looks to protect his spot at the top of the China Tour Order of Merit and earn the coveted spot on the DP World Tour that winning the rankings would earn him.
Outsider: Jan Schneijder
Jan Schneider enters the week outside of the top 68, but is in the field thanks to his affiliation to the China Tour, on which he finished second in the order of merit last year. Although of German nationality, Schneider was born in China and has links to the country through his mother, meaning he feels quite at home in the country. The 28-year-old will be hoping he can replicate last year’s fine performance at Sanya Luhuitou to push into the top 70 where rounds of 65-69-71-69 saw him to a share of fourth, just three back of eventual winner Renato Paratore. Coming into the event off the back of his first top ten of the year at the Abu Dhabi Challenge will give him hope that he can produce another good display. Due to his position outside the current cut-off, Schneider will be unable to earn Ranking points at both Chinese events.
