Benjamin Hebert tees it up at the Swiss Challenge this week looking to win the event for the second time at Golf Sempach.
The Frenchman secured his maiden HotelPlanner Tour title in the 2011 edition of the tournament, finishing four shots clear of Englishman Jamie Moul at 12 under par for the week.
“It was a long time ago now,” he said. “It’s been 15 years. Time goes very quick.
“It was my first HotelPlanner Tour victory, and it marked the start of a good stretch for me as the week after I won again at the English Challenge and earned promotion that year.
“My season has not been very good so far. I am trying not to play in too many events as I am getting a bit older now, so I’ve not quite been in the rhythm.”
Hebert already has six HotelPlanner Tour titles to his name, graduating for a second time in 2014 after finishing second on the Road to Mallorca Rankings with three wins. He returned, however, to the HotelPlanner Tour after losing his playing rights on the DP World Tour at the end of 2025.
The 39-year-old carded his best finish of the season so far at the Challenge de España last week, finishing in a tie for 26th spot, at seven under par.
“I’ve made some changes with my clubs,” he added. “I had a good week last week. I was accurate with my irons, so it was good to build some confidence because this is probably the best part of my game.
“I will approach this week as a usual week. The only problem we have is we’re not too sure about the weather.”
Despite an inconsistent start to the season, Hebert knows what it takes to compete at the top level with 16 top ten finishes in his 288 DP World Tour starts, and he is confident that a positive run of results could see him return to Golf’s Global Tour.
“The goal is, of course, to graduate again to the DP World Tour, and to do that you need some very good results. A win or two helps too.
“We are here every week for the trophy, so hopefully a win at some point will be good. Playing my best every week is the main goal, and some good finishes will set me on my way.”
Hebert is part of a strong field this week which includes DP World Tour winners Nick Bachem and Maximilian Kieffer and current Road to Mallorca Number Three, Will Enefer.
The first round of the Swiss Challenge gets under way at 07:40 local time on Thursday with Hebert playing alongside Danish Golf Challenge winner Tapio Pulkkanen and Swiss Fiorino Clerci at 13:45.
