Interwetten Open: Three to Watch

It is a relatively short journey through the Alps from last week’s Swiss Challenge to the Interwetten Open at Austria’s Schladming-Dachstein Golf Club. Here are three players who could compete at the latest event on the 2026 Road to Mallorca...

Form Horse: George Bloor

Bloor

It was a slow start to the season for George Bloor, who missed his first two cuts of the season at the DP World PGTI Open and Challenge de Catalunya. But the Englishman has now made three weekends on the trot, with his finishes progressively higher each week. A 66th placed finish at the Danish Golf Challenge earned the 30-year-old his first Road to Mallorca Ranking points, which he followed up with a 26th placed finish at the Challenge de España.

Then, last week at the Swiss Challenge, Bloor took a one-stroke lead into the final round before eventually finishing at 15 under par in a tie for second, as Matthew Southgate stormed to victory. Either way, it has seen Bloor shoot up almost 200 places to 44th in the Rankings, and he will be looking to push towards that all important top 15 this week.

Local Boy: Lukas Nemecz

Nemecz

Lukas Nemecz leads the line for the Austrians this week, currently sitting 40th in the Road to Mallorca Rankings, with no other Austrian in the top 150. The 36-year-old came so close to graduating to the DP World Tour for a second time last year, having first graduated in 2021, but he ultimately fell out of the top 20 at the Rolex Grand Final last November.

But Nemecz has a wealth of experience on both the HotelPlanner Tour and the DP World Tour. His best finish of the season so far came at the DP World PGTI Open in India, where he ended the week in fourth, and the Austrian will be looking to add another strong finish on home soil this week to vault his way towards the all-important top 15. Weekend rounds of 63-64 at Schladming-Dachstein Golf Club saw him to a tied for seventh finish at the 2025 Interwetten Open, meaning there will be good memories this week for Nemecz.

Outsider: Julian Perico

Perico

It has been a quiet season so far for Julian Perico with only four events played, yet a third placed finish at the Jonsson Workwear Durban Open and a runner up finish at last week’s Swiss Challenge means the Peruvian still finds himself 27th in the Road to Mallorca Rankings. He is within striking distance of a graduate spot were he to have a couple of strong finishes, and the evidence would suggest that one of these could come this week in Austria.

Rounds of 64-64-67-66 saw the 26-year-old finish in a tie for tenth at 15 under par at last year’s Interwetten Open, before a strong finish to the season saw him end the year 26th in the Rankings in his rookie campaign. Schladming-Dachstein would appear to suit his game, so don’t be surprised if Perico is in the hunt on Sunday.
