Stefano Mazzoli claimed his maiden DP World Tour title at the Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic to gain access to the PGA TOUR.
The 29-year-old shot a final round six under par 66 to reach 20 under par, finishing one-shot ahead of fellow HotelPlanner Tour alumni Todd Clements and Gordon Sargent of the United States.
The Italian made birdie on the 72nd hole to achieve the feat in just his third career start on the PGA TOUR, becoming in the process the first 2025 HotelPlanner Tour graduate to win in 2026.
"I’m just grateful and honoured to win on tour," Mazzoli said. “That was a dream since I was a kid.
“There wasn’t much pressure, for me it was just about chasing the leader. I handled my emotions pretty well. It was all about pushing and then the last three holes I knew we had a chance. Now it’s just a time for celebration.
“I’ll be pleased to play this Tour next year and see where it goes.”
Mazzoli graduated from the Road to Mallorca in 2025, finishing eighth in the Rankings with one runner up finish and seven other finishes inside the top ten.
The 29-year-old’s best finishes prior to this week had been two top 20s, with no top tens leaving him outside a spot to keep his DP World Tour card.
But his victory at the co-sanctioned Corales Puntacana Championship sees him move up 84 spots into 39th in the Race to Dubai, currently holding a spot in the season ending DP World Tour Championship, as well as earning a full DP World Tour card and PGA TOUR card through the 2027 season.
Mazzoli became the 11th international winner on the American Tour, and the sixth first time winner of the season. He made further history by becoming the first Italian to win the Dominican Republic event, doing it with the largest come-from-behind victory in tournament history.
Fellow Italian and 2025 graduate Filippo Celli also posted his best result of the season, finishing in a share of 15th. It was the week of the Italian graduates as Renato Paratore shot a final round 65 to climb 42 places on the leaderboard and finish in tied 24th.
