2016 will see the stunning Greg Norman-designed Almouj Golf host the Challenge Tour’s season finale for the second time following a dramatic conclusion to the 2015 Road to Oman.
Last year, Ricardo Gouveia emphatically underlined his status as Road to Oman Rankings winner with a one-shot victory, in the process smashing Edoardo Molinari’s record for most prizemoney won in a single Challenge Tour season.
Behind him, there was drama all the way through the 45-man field, with all competitors realistically in with a shout of a spot in the top 15 of the Rankings – and, with it, graduation to the European Tour.
This will be the Challenge Tour’s fourth visit to Muscat, with Roope Kakko and Max Orrin the winners in 2013 and 2014 respectively, when the tournament was the penultimate event on the schedule before it assumed headline billing from 2015 onwards.
