Lucas Nemecz is targeting a maiden HotelPlanner Tour victory as he prepares to tee it up on home soil this week at the Interwetten Open at Schladming-Dachstein Golf Club.
The Austrian made a strong start to the 2025 Road to Mallorca season, which included a runner up finish at the Delhi Challenge in March, and he currently sits in 34th position in the Rankings after 15 events of the 29-event schedule.
The 35-year-old is relishing the prospect of performing in front of friends and family this week in Oberhaus as the Interwetten Open makes its debut on the HotelPlanner Tour schedule.
“I’m really excited for this week,” he said. “We’re playing in my home Provence, and it is such a beautiful course. I love being back home, I love skiing, I love hiking and I love the mountains so for me there is no better place to play golf.
“I have a second home half an hour from here, so it is so nice to stay there and have my friends and family here this week. We are very sporty people, and the atmosphere is fantastic at Austrian tournaments.
“I had a decent start to the year before taking two months off after the birth of my second child which was very nice. My game is trending in the right direction and I’m feeling confident this week.”
Nemecz returned to the HotelPlanner Tour at the start of the season after losing his DP World Tour card, however he is hoping for a quick return via the Road to Mallorca Rankings with the top 20 at the end of the year earning promotion to golf’s Global Tour.
“It’s very difficult losing your card on the DP World Tour and returning to the HotelPlanner Tour,” he said. “I know how strong this Tour is now, and you have to play very well if you want to finish inside that top 20.
“I am just trying to improve every week, and I know that I need some strong finishes between now and the end of the season.”
Nemecz joins a strong field in Oberhaus this week including Road to Mallorca Number One Renato Paratore and countryman Maximilian Steinlechner, who is the highest ranked Austrian in the field - 18th in the Road to Mallorca Rankings.
