HotelPlanner Tour class of ’24 graduate John Parry shot a final round one under par 69 to finish in a share of 11th at the 126th U.S. Open, as Wyndham Clark secured his second Major victory at Shinnecock Hills.
Parry, who won three times in 2024 on his way to a second placed finish in the Road to Mallorca Rankings, carded rounds of 71-71-71-69 to finish on two over par and secure his best ever finish in a Major Championship, six back of eventual winner Clark.
The Englishman, whose previous best Major Championship finish came at the 2025 Open Championship, was delighted with his performance in golf’s toughest test.
“Sometimes you’ve got to pinch yourself,” he said. “Even out there today when it’s tough, you think, blimey, I’m playing the U.S. Open at Shinnecock. It’s not half bad. It definitely helps.”
Parry is a four-time winner on the HotelPlanner Tour having first tasted victory in 2009 at the ALLIANZ Golf Open Grand Toulouse. The Englishman would record a hat-trick of victories 15 years later, coming at the Delhi Challenge, Italian Challenge Open and Blot Open de Bretagne before going on to win the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open upon his return to the DP World Tour.
The 39-year-old then finished 11th in the 2025 Race to Dubai Rankings to earn one of ten cards on the PGA TOUR, where he has been playing this year before this week’s career best Major finish.
The result saw him rise 37 spots in this year’s Race to Dubai rankings to 55th, and 14 spots to 82nd in the FedEx Cup.
“Especially today and yesterday, it’s been really windy,” he added. “There’s a difference — if I’m in the mix, that’s a different feeling of pressure — but to know I can compete at this level and put in a good performance is very pleasing.”
Elsewhere, class of ’23 graduate Alex Fitzpatrick continued his fine season to finish at five over in a tie for 23rd, one shot behind brother Matt.
2025 graduates Rocco Repetto Taylor and Filipo Celli both missed the cut having qualified for the major, with Celli making birdie on his 36th hole to miss out on the weekend by a single shot.
