Q.

What would you have been if you hadn’t become a golfer?

A. Probably homeless! I’m not really sure – I’ve wanted to be a golfer for as long as I can remember. I had thought about becoming a lawyer, but I didn’t do well enough at school to study law.

Q.

When was your first kiss?

A. I think I was 14. Her name was Laura. She was quite a pretty girl, but I’ve done better since!

Q.

Do you have any pets?

A. Yes, I’ve got two big Bassett Hounds, called Xune and Sherlock. My parents look after them for me when I’m on the road.

Q.

Stockings or suspenders?

A. Suspenders – no question!

Q.

What’s your favourite course?

A. Probably Loch Lomond – although I never seem to play well there!

Q.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?

A. People always tell me not to have such a big ego – but I don’t listen to them!

Q.

What’s your favourite book?

A. I don’t really read books, but my favourite magazine is Sport Auto. I like looking at luxury cars, even though I can’t buy them because I don’t have my driving license! So my parents or my girlfriend always gift me lifts.

Q.

What’s the longest journey you’ve ever made?

A. It was two weeks ago, when I was visiting my girlfriend in Stockholm. Because of the volcano in Iceland my flight was cancelled, so I had to get back to Biarritz by train. It took me three-and-a-half days to get home!

Q.

Have you got any superstitions?

A. I have a pair of lucky pants I wear on the third day of tournaments. They’re really ugly shiny yellow colour, but I always seemed to play well whenever I wore them.

Q.

Who is the richest or most powerful person you’ve ever played a round of golf with?

A. Probably Gerard Pellison, who owns a hotel group in France. I played with him in the Pro-Am before the Open de France, and a few other times too. He’s a great guy – very funny. He’s a multimillionaire – but I didn’t ask to borrow any money from him!
