Robin out to secure European Tour card in Foshan

Robin Sciot-Siegrist arrives at the Foshan Open knowing he is just one good result away from tying up a European Tour card for next season.

After a fourth-place finish at last week’s Hainan Open the Frenchman leapfrogged a number of his rivals to move up to 11thon the 2017 Road to Oman.

With more than 80,000 points already in the bag, Sciot-Siegrist is aware that another strong performance in one of the final three lucrative season-ending events can guarantee him a rookie season on the European Tour.

Having already won once this season in Northern Ireland, his first victory as a professional, the 23 year old believes he can triumph again in 2017.

“What is great about winning earlier in this season is that you feel you can do it again,” he said. “You know it is reachable and although there are a lot of great players in the final three events I know that I have the potential to win again.

“As a rookie I was really happy to have a win this year as it was one of my objectives. Actually going out and doing it was really cool though.

“I made a big jump last week so I am now definitely thinking about the top 15. I have been speaking a lot to my coach though who has just told me ‘take it shot by shot and don’t think about what’s happening in the Rankings’.

“I will keep doing my best and I am feeling really good too. I will try to just repeat what I did last week this week.”

The Challenge Tour’s fortnight in China marks the first time that Sciot-Siegrist has visited the Asian country.

After excelling in Hainan last week Sciot-Siegrist is also hugely impressed with the condition of this week’s course, Foshan Golf Club.

“It is a very good golf course,” he said. “It takes a lot of skill to plan around this golf course and it is going to be a very good test for us all this week.

“I think that the greens are really good and if you miss the fairway the rough is really hard too so again it is a really tough test.”
