Round one of NTT DATA Pro-Am brought to you by Standard Bank cancelled due to rainfall

The 2026 NTT DATA Pro-Am brought to you by Standard Bank will be played over 54 holes after the first round was cancelled due to persistent rainfall at Fancourt Golf Estate.

Heavy rain throughout Wednesday evening and into Thursday morning left large parts of all three courses – The Links, Montagu and Outeniqua – flooded and, following a six-hour delay, a decision was made to cancel the opening round without any golf being played.

The first round will now commence on Friday morning on both the Montagu and Outeniqua courses before a 36-hole cut takes place following Saturday’s second round. The final round will then commence, as planned, on the Montagu course on Sunday.

Gary Butler, Tournament Director: “It’s a sad decision to cancel any round of golf but we arrived here this morning knowing rain was due last night and it duly arrived.

“We found out we had 18 millilitres of rain overnight on top of rain through the week and last weekend.

“We originally thought the rain would subside by 8:00am so planned to go with a 9:45am restart, which was a three-hour delay to the original times. Unfortunately, within those three hours, we had continual rain.

“It got to a point where we would need quite a few hours to prepare the golf course. As we always do, we pushed the times back an hour and eventually two hours until we got to 12:45pm, which was a six-hour delay. After consultation with the head greenkeeper, we felt the course had gone too far for us to get a day’s play in today.

“The decision was made to change the format with the men now competing over the Outeniqua and Montagu.

“That gives us a better chance, if we do get further rain delays, to hopefully get 54 holes in by the end of play on Sunday.”
