Royal Copenhagen Golf was the winner of the morning battle against the field of the Made in Denmark Challenge, with the early starters struggling to make inroads into the overnight lead of Ireland’s Ruaidhri McGee.
The tough lay-out at the 7188 yard, par 71 Royal Copenhagen, coupled with tricky conditions, saw only six of the 78 players who teed off in the morning break par or better.
James Watts carded a best of the morning 68, but looks likely to miss the cut on nine over, while Peter Whiteford and Charlie Ford posted a pair of 70s to respectively move to one and three over for the tournament.
Three players shot level par – Jens Danthorp, Pierre Relecom Kenny Subergis – before the afternoon starters, including overnight leader McGee and home favourites Andreas Hartø and JB Hansen, set about what looks set to be a tough afternoon at royal Copenhagen.
