It is with great regret that the European Challenge Tour announces that the Azerbaijan Challenge Open will not take place in 2015, after a hugely successful inaugural tournament last year.
We have been informed by the Azerbaijan Golf Federation that, due to the current unstable situation in the world oil markets combined with the country’s imminent hosting of the 2015 Baku European Games, they have been unable to secure the necessary funding for this year’s event.
The Azerbaijan Golf Federation has expressed firm interest in bringing this great tournament back to the Challenge Tour schedule in 2016 and we look forward to continuing our relationships with all of our partners there, having broken new ground for the game of golf in 2014 with the country’s first professional tournament.
