The HotelPlanner Tour heads to Schladming-Dachstein Golf Club for the first time for the Interwetten Open. Here’s everything you need to know for the week ahead..
Picturesque venue
Situated at the base of the Ennstal valley, right by Schladming, Schladming-Dachstein Golf Club is a uniquely stunning venue which is consistently in the top 15 of “The Leading Golf courses of Austria”.
The Championship course was designed by two-time Masters winner Bernhard Langer and water hazards come into play on more than half the holes on the card. The course is configured with six par threes – three on each nine. The shortest of these holes, the par three sixth hole, is regarded as the signature hole at Schladming-Dachstein because the tee shot must carry water and an enormous bunker in order to reach the green.
Famous founder
Schladming-Dachstein Golf Club was founded in 1987 by Franz Wittmann, a famous rally driver who has won Austria’s national championship on 12 occasions and now operates as Club President.
Wittmann, who served as the President of the Austrian Golf Association from 2006-2013, has been passionate about golf ever since he first watched the sport on television and was motivated to found both Schladming-Dachstein Golf Club and Adamstal Golf Club, which held the Euram Bank Open from 2018-2024, to help grow the game in his native country.
Local boys
Home favourites Maximilian Steinlechner and Lukas Nemecz will be hoping to lean on home advantage this week to produce another good performance as they target promotion to the DP World Tour. Steinlechner has enjoyed a strong 2025 season so far, including back-to-back top five finishes in India, and he sits in 18th position on the Road to Mallorca Rankings while Nemecz occupies 32nd position with the top 20 at the end of the season earning a card on golf’s Global Tour. The pair will also take inspiration from countrymen Matthias Schwab, who represented Austria in the 2020 Olympic Games, and 2023 Ryder Cup player Sepp Straka.
