The Road to Mallorca heads to Scotland as the Scottish Challenge supported by The R&A takes place from August 6-9 at SCHLOSS Roxburghe. Here’s all you need to know…
Schloss Roxburghe
After making its Road to Mallorca debut in 2025, the Scottish Challenge supported by The R&A returns to SCHLOSS Roxburghe in Heiton by Kelso. The Dave Tomas-designed championship course has previously hosted The Scottish Senior Open and DP World Tour Qualifying school, and the resort is regarded as one of the finest in the UK.
The Roxburghe Championship Course boasts a par 72 layout where wide fairways alter in elevation and provides a unique test throughout. The 14th, named ‘The Viaduct’, is a par five that runs alongside The River Teviot and there is a wonderful view of the iconic viaduct which runs through the course.
SCHLOSS Roxburghe Hotel & Golf Course is also home to one of Scotland’s best spas, a variety of hotel rooms, a TopTracer driving range, and additional outdoor pursuits including fishing, archery and shooting.
Producing big names
Several notable golfers have tasted victory at the Scottish Challenge over the years, and none come bigger than five-time Major champion Brooks Koepka. Heading into the 2013 edition with two HotelPlanner Tour wins already to his name, Koepka stormed to a three-stroke victory at Macdonald Spey Valley Golf Club to secure immediate promotion to the DP World Tour. Just 18 months later, the American would seal his maiden win on Golf’s Global Tour, which came at the 2014 Turkish Airlines Open.
Another recognisable winner of the Scottish Challenge is Englishman Andrew Johnston. During the 2014 event, also hosted at Macdonald Spey Valley Golf Club, the then 25-year-old carded a closing five under par round of 66 to finish three shots clear on 19 under par.
Daniel Young claimed the crown at last year’s edition of the Scottish Challenge, with a one-stroke victory over Julien Quesne, carding two rounds of 64 on his way to victory as he also reached 19 under par for the week to claim victory on the final day.
Tartan Pro Tour
The Scottish Challenge represents the fantastic relationship between the HotelPlanner Tour and the Tartan Pro Tour. The Tartan Pro Tour is the only professional golf tour in Scotland and is a pathway for talented golfers who are looking to make their way in Europe. The top three players on the Tartan Pro Tour’s order of merit (John Vogelphol, Michael Stuart and Sam Locke) will join Infortar Estonian Challenge winner and 2025 Tartan Pro Tour graduate Rory Franssen in the field this week in Roxburghe.
