Higgo hit the heights (again), Mansell raced up the leaderboard, Tapio went Taplow and putters were not required on day three of the 2021 Canary Islands Championship.

Garrick gallops ahead

Garrick Higgo is in the form of his life. After a win two weeks ago sandwiched by two top tens, a third round 64 handed him a two shot lead heading into the final day of the Canary Islands Swing. To say he has enjoyed his time off the African coast would be an understatement, with the 21-year-old 20 under for the week and 61 under for his 11 rounds over the last three events. A win on Sunday would be his third in just 26 starts.

Mansell happy to keep learning

Richard Mansell may be playing just his ninth European Tour event but this is the second time he has gone out in the final group on a Sunday. He did it at last season's Euram Bank Open and believes he took a lot from the experience. "I finished second at Euram Bank last year," he said. "It was a co-sanctioned event, so a win would have got me my card. I didn't and I had a little moment there on the 15th where I went to tap it in for birdie to tie the lead with three to play and missed it. Careless mistake, bit of a rookie error. Potentially that could have been the best thing that happened to me not winning there. Would rather do that in that event rather than The Open or the Masters one day. Learn from it, try to keep getting better and that's what I'm doing. Happy with the progress." A bogey free 64 on Saturday left him just two shots behind Higgo.

Tapilow Pulkkanen

We've had a few players threaten 59 over the past two weeks at Golf Costa Adeje but Scott Jamieson's 61 was still the best effort after six rounds. Well Tapio Pulkkanen matched it on Moving Day as he carded ten birdies and no bogeys in a brilliant 61. Tip of the hat.
