Norway's Viktor Hovland secured his first professional title after the winning the Puerto Rico Open.

The 22-year-old trailed Scotland's Martin Laird - who matched the course record of 63 at Coco Beach Golf Course on Saturday - by one shot heading into the final round.

A double bogey from Laird handed Hovland the initiative and he birdied the fifth and tenth hole to reach 20 under par and looked on course for his maiden win.

American Josh Teater moved into contention with three gains on his front nine to sit one adrift, only to card successive dropped shots from the tenth.

Hovland let Teater back in with a triple bogey six at the 11th to drop to 17 under par - level with the American.

However, the Norwegian chipped in from the rough for an eagle at the 15th to jump ahead and, although Teater carded gains at the 15th and 17th, Hovland held his nerve at the last to hole a birdie putt for victory.
