Jon Rahm: What's in the bag

What's in the bag of 2021 U.S. Open Champion Jon Rahm?

Jon Rahm made history as the first Spaniard to win the U.S. Open on Sunday, overcoming a star-studded final round leaderboard to capture his maiden major title.

In the process of winning, the 26-year-old claimed the number one spot on the Race to Dubai Rankings in partnership with Rolex as well as reached the summit of the Official World Golf Rankings.

Here's a closer look at the equipment the Spaniard used to win at Torrey Pines.

Driver and Fairway Woods

Driver: Callaway Epic Speed Triple Diamond LS (10.5°), Aldila Tour Green 75 TX Shaft

Fairway Woods: Callaway Epic Speed Sub Zero Triple Diamond T (14° & 18°), Aldila Tour Green 75 TX Shaft (3 wood); Graphite Design Tour AD DI (5 wood)

Rahm has had the Callaway Epic Speed Sub Zero Triple Diamond Driver in the bag since he joined #TeamCallaway earlier this year. Rahm was able to drive the ball consistently well all week hitting over 52% of fairways (T-28th) on the narrow fairways synonymous with US Open layouts. Epic Drivers have now won seven times on TOUR this year, including the last two male major champions, with Rahm following Phil Mickelson’s historic win at the PGA Championship. Accompanying the Epic Speed Driver, Rahm also used the Callaway Epic Speed Sub Zero Triple Diamond 3 wood and 5 wood, which provided versatility off the tee and when trying to reach the long par 5’s in two.

Irons and Golf Ball

• Irons: Callaway Apex TCB (4-PW), Project X 6.5

• Wedges: Callaway Jaws Forged (52°, 56°, 60°), Project X 6.5

• Ball: Callaway Chrome Soft X

Rahm used the new Callaway Apex TCB Irons and Chrome Soft X Ball on his way to his first Major triumph, producing an impressive level of consistency which led him to hit 78% of Greens In Regulation (GIR) on the final day (T3) and 68% GIR across all four rounds (T4th).

Being interviewed with the US Open trophy in-hand, Rahm said;

“The new ball and the new irons allowed me to hit certain shots that I simply wasn’t capable of before… on (hole) one for instance, being able to hit that (approach) shot high with spin, but still being able to travel through the wind… allowed me to stay aggressive”.

Putter

• Putter: Odyssey White Hot OG Rossie S

Rahm made the switch to an Odyssey White Hot OG Rossie S Putter a few weeks ago, and it was a decision that proved key on Sunday – holing two incredible birdie putts on the final two holes that helped him set the clubhouse target and led to his eventual victory. He ranked 15th for total number of putts across the week, and recently Odyssey Tour Rep Joe Toulon provided in depth details about the big putter switch on Twitter.

Clothing

Rahm officially joined TravisMathew in January this year, and their apparel was on full display at Torrey Pines with Rahm wearing his favoured  Red Heater Polo, on Sunday. He wears TravisMathew because it meets the performance requirements that he's looking for while still delivering comfort, style and versatility.
