Justin and Kate Rose pay it forward

Justin and Kate Rose and HSBC are passionate about their support of the women’s game.

At the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, Justin Rose took time to offer encouragement to a young, up-and-coming Emirati female golfer.

The summer of 2020 presented uncertainty in all walks of life including sport. But with professional tournament golf events staged across such an expansive range of countries, the return of the ladies game was unclear.

With so many travel restrictions in place due to the global pandemic, the Rose’s set out to create a series of women’s events in the UK during the summer months so that the Ladies European Tour members could stay sharp.

And so, The Rose Ladies Series was born with a run of events successfully staged across some iconic UK venues including Wentworth, The Berkshire and 2021 Open Championship venue Royal St Georges.

Starting his year at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, Rose sat down to discuss his support of the women’s game and grassroots golf.

This week, HSBC and European Tour had organised for Justin to play a round with 17 year old Emirati up-and-coming golfer Shahad Al Suwaidi.

Due to COVID-19 that wasn’t possible so instead, Justin, along with Rose Ladies Series Order of Merit winner Charley Hull, decided to surprise Shahad with a Zoom call.

The Ladies European Tour returns with the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore from April 28-May 2.
