On Wednesday May 15, the European Tour Group, the Municipal Sports Bureau, and the City Sports Group met to carry out the signing ceremony of the agreement to hold the tournament.

The 2024 Hangzhou Golf Open will be the penultimate event of the Challenge Tour, taking place the week before the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final in Mallorca. The event will feature 2,750 Road to Mallorca points for players to compete for alongside total prize money of $500,000, with 126 top domestic and international golfers expected to participate.

"For players, the tournament's high points total and prize money will attract more top-ranked players to participate," Ben Gowen, Chief Tournament Operations Officer of the European Tour Group, said.

"We hope that the 2024 Hangzhou Golf Open will provide a pathway to the international stage for Chinese golfers, and we also hope to have a long-term cooperation with the beautiful city of Hangzhou."

At the conference site, the City Sports group and the Westlake International Golf & Country Club also signed a cooperation framework agreement. The 2024 Hangzhou Golf Open host site, Westlake International Golf & Country Club, was also the golf program competition site for last year's Asian Games in Hangzhou.

The Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Hangzhou Sports Bureau, Yang Yingying, said, "Post-Asian Games era, Hangzhou is continuing to amplify the effect of the Asian Games, to help build a ‘City of Competitions and Events’.

“First-class Asian Games venues, perfect urban support and rich experience in organizing competitions mean that Hangzhou attracts the top international sports events.

"The success of the 2024 Hangzhou Open, while helping the development of golf, also boosts Hangzhou's internationalization process, enhances the city's international influence, and realizes the mutual growth of the city of Hangzhou and the sport of golf."

Tian Xiaojun, Vice Chairman of the China Golf Association, said at the conference, "I hope that the success of the 2024 Hangzhou Golf Open will further stimulate the community's attention to and enthusiasm for participation in golf, promote the popularization of the game, enhance the national sports literacy, cultivate more outstanding talents for Chinese golf, and contribute to our country's goal of moving towards being a sports powerhouse."
