Tickets are now on sale for the popular event, with a 20 per cent festive discount available until December 24. Free entry is available for children aged 12 and under, with tickets for teenagers aged between 13 and 18 at €10 per day.

Earlier this year, the Porsche European Open welcomed 2,000 spectators per day, as a ‘model project’ for Germany’s return to sport, and they watched Englishman Marcus Armitage claim an emotional maiden victory.

In 2019, Casey won for the first tim in more than five years on European soil on the formidable Porsche Nord Course in Hamburg, adding his name to a list of some of golf’s most recognisable names as winners of the European Open such as Bernhard Langer, Sir Nick Faldo, Sandy Lyle and Ian Woosnam.

"I'm already looking forward to the incredible atmosphere on the Porsche Nord Course. It gets better every year there," said Casey, who made his fifth Ryder Cup appearance earlier this year. "And I have the feeling that I'm not done yet with the tournament. I really want to win once again on the challenging course. It's one I really like."

Kaymer, who holed the winning putt at the Miracle of Medinah in 2012, added: “A home tournament is always something special. And the Porsche Nord Course provides the perfect conditions for a rousing atmosphere. It's why I hope we'll have the chance this coming June to enjoy a fantastic tournament with as many fans as possible.”

Set to make his seventh appearance in the Porsche European Open, Kieffer said: "The anticipation ahead of a big golf event in Germany in the fitting conditions is huge. And I think the same goes for golf fans."

Tournament Director Dirk Glittenberg said: “The event on the challenging Porsche Nord Course in 2022 will once again add to the over 40-year success story of the European Open, with great names and great passion for the game of golf.

“After spectators last year were once again able to watch world class golf in Europe up-close following a break of many months, planning for the 2022 Porsche European Open envisages, in suitable conditions, a comprehensive programme of live golfing action.

“Especially in these exceptional times, we want to offer a positive outlook, something we look forward to. It’s why we’re working hard to provide an inspiring 2022 Porsche European Open and are now starting ticket sales.

“In 2021, we worked right up to the very end to allow spectators and were eventually successful. In 2022, we will again give our all to offer spectacular live golf to as many people as possible. We’re confident that, in keeping with the pandemic situation in June, everything will work out.”
