Bernd Wiesberger is ready to take a winning mentality into the final three weeks of the 2019 Race to Dubai as he looks to cap off an incredible season by being crowned Europe's Number One.
The Austrian has been an elite player for a long time and entered the 2019 campaign with four European Tour wins to his name but he also came into it under a cloud having been out for seven months with a wrist injury.
Little could he have known when he hit his first shot in Mauritius back in December that he would have a career best season, bringing three victories and making him a two time Rolex Series champion.
That form sees him start this week's Turkish Airlines Open at the top of the Race to Dubai Rankings Presented by Rolex, and a victory in any of the season's final three events would see him join Jon Rahm with the most Rolex Series wins.
A win would also take him a big step closer to the Harry Vardon Trophy, where he would put his name alongside some of the greats of the game.
"It would be fantastic," he said. "The quality of players that are able to hold this trophy, not only Dubai but the whole history of the European Tour, there's quite a list there.
"So to have the chance to be amongst them, a bit of goosebumps there. That would be nice and being in that position is tremendous and hopefully we can have three more great weeks.
"When we were in position, we've done really well to grind it out and make that one more putt and hit that one more great shot and get the result in.
"In general, I felt like I was quite comfortable in position to play for a title and that's kept me calm and it's quite enjoyable. I really enjoyed those moments and then success came with it."
Wiesberger finished in the top ten at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal at the inaugural Turkish Airlines Open in 2013, with the event returning to the venue this week for the first time since 2015.
And after a couple of days at home following the WGC-HSBC Champions, Wiesberger is feeling refreshed and eager to get another look at the layout.
"A bit of cold and rain at home but it's nice to come back even for one day, see everyone and recharge a little bit," he said. "I had a straight flight out from Vienna to Antalya yesterday and look forward to see what's out on the golf course.
"It's a golf course that provides some good memories for me and also some good scoring. I'm sure we'll figure out the golf course this afternoon in the pro-am and be aggressive and let it go out there and hopefully make a lot of birdies.
"I think that's what it's going to require for success with the low scoring every year we've been here."
