The likeable Canadian maintained a regular presence on The European Tour in the 1980s and achieved his defining moment in the game in 1984 when he triumphed in the Ebel European Masters – Swiss Open with a stunning 27 under par total of 261. The figure stood as the low 72 hole to par record on The European Tour for nearly 20 years before it was beaten by Ernie Els’s 29 under par 259 in the 2003 Johnnie Walker Classic. Kept his card on The European Tour for seven years from 1982 and represented his country in three World Cups, in 1983, 1987 and 1989, and the Alfred Dunhill Cup in 1985. In the first of those World Cups he partnered Dave Barr to a share of second place behind the American duo of Rex Caldwell and John Cook. The Canadian is somewhat accident prone. When he was younger he was involved in two bad car crashes and a boating accident, while he also once fell from a truck causing him rib injuries after the tailgate flipped open. Turned 50 on September 22, 2005.
