After months of preparation and 14 tournaments over three stages, one of the most gruelling tests in golf will reach a climax this afternoon when The European Tour’s Qualifying School Final Stage comes to a close.

For some of the 70 players in the field today, it will be the greatest day of their careers as the top 30 and ties pick up a card for The European Tour, while others will leave PGA Catalunya Resort in northern Spain this evening with months to agonise over what could have been.

Some have played 14 rounds since the First Stage of golf’s ultimate marathon and many have played 10 rounds in the last two weeks, so it may well come down to the survival of the fittest as the players take to the Stadium Course in Girona.

As leader David Dixon has proven thus far though, experience can often be crucial in dealing with the inevitable peaks and troughs that go hand-in-hand with six consecutive rounds of golf under the most intense of pressure.

Stars will be born, careers will be forged and dreams will be dashed. Keep an eye on europeantour.com and watch as the drama unfolds.
