Grégory Bourdy moved into a share of the lead on day one of the Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre.

The 30 year old Frenchman turned in 32 after beginning his round at the tenth and then picked up birdies at the first and second to reach five under.

That put him alongside morning starters Robert Coles, Rhys Davies and Anirban Lahiri, who all got under way with rounds of 66.

Five players trailed the leading quartet by a solitary shot, with Australian Scott Barr the only one still on the course; he had three holes to play.

Marcel Siem, the winner of last month’s Alstom Open de France, briefly reached four under, before slipping back with his first bogey of the day at 13.

On a day of low scoring at one of the European Tour’s most spectacular venues, more than 60 players were under par.
