England's Cricket World Cup Heroes set for BMW PGA Championship (European Tour)

Jos Buttler, Joe Root and Ben Stokes, three of England's Cricket World Cup winning heroes, will be reunited on the golf course at the Celebrity Pro-Am this September on the eve of the BMW PGA Championship, the European Tour's fourth Rolex Series event of 2019.

The trio each played an integral part in England's victorious World Cup campaign, as they became champions for the first time, beating New Zealand in the Super Over after scores were tied at the end of Sunday’s dramatic final.

Root and Stokes, who were named in the Cricket World Cup Team of the Tournament, and wicket-keeper Buttler who dismissed Martin Guptill to seal victory for England, will swap the cricket pitch for the historic fairways at Wentworth Club on Wednesday September 18.

The Celebrity Pro-Am takes place on the eve of the BMW PGA Championship, featuring Francesco Molinari, Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose, with the Rolex Series event moving from its traditional May date to September 19-22.

The Pro-Am has become an eagerly-anticipated event in its own right in recent years with some of the biggest names from the world of sport, film and television playing alongside golf's global stars.
Buttler, Root and Stokes will join another trio of England cricketing legends, James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Kevin Pietersen in the line-up, with further names to be added over the coming weeks.;

Root finished the World Cup fifth in the rankings for the most runs after centuries against West Indies and Pakistan, plus three half centuries. Stokes announced himself to the tournament with a stunning catch in the opening game against South Africa and the all-rounder impressed throughout the six weeks, including a final knock of 84 to force the Super Over ahead of lifting the trophy.

Buttler made 59 runs off 60 balls to steer England back into contention before he played a pivotal role in sealing the victory, running-out Guptill on the final ball of the World Cup.

The three World Cup winners will join a host celebrities and sports stars at Wentworth Club on the eve of the fourth Rolex Series event. Tickets for the Pro-Am, and the BMW PGA Championship tournament days, can be purchased now by clicking here. For hospitality packages, please click here.
