Play Suspended at the Estoril Challenge

The third round of the European Challenge Tour’s Estoril Open had been suspended after incessant rainfall over the Pehna Longa Golf left Officials no choice but to call a halt to the third round. Play is scheduled to resume on Sunday morning at 09:00 local time.

Overnight leader Christian Nilsson of Sweden shares first place with his countryman Oskar Bergman after six holes. The Swedish pair are currently on four under par, with Welshman Kyron Sullivan just a single stroke further back on three under.

Tournament Director David Williams said: “We were left with no choice but to suspend play at 13:30 after constant and heavy downpours of rain throughout the morning and early afternoon.

“Unfortunately, the golf course just could not take any more water and had started to flood, making it impossible to continue the third round on schedule. We are planning to resume the third round at 09:00 on Sunday morning, and, depending on the golf course and the weather forecast, will take a decision on if and when the fourth round can take place.”
