Malcolm Mackenzie completed a notable achievement in this week’s BMW International Open at Golfclub München-Nord, Eichenried, when he played in his 600th European Tour event.

The Englishman – winner of the 2002 Open de France – became the fourth player in history to reach the milestone, behind Sam Torrance (700), Roger Chapman (616) and Eamonn Darcy (610), but at the age of 44 years and 335 days is the youngest of the quartet to reach the 600 mark.

Mackenzie was presented with an Asprey ice bucket and tongs by European Tour Executive Director George O’Grady to commemorate the occasion and said: “I hope I can stay fit enough and play well enough and long enough to go on and challenge Sam’s record of 700 tournaments.”
