Caddieing for his property-developer father encouraged him to take up the game at the age of 11. Won English Amateur Stroke Play Championship while still a teenager in 1984 and turned professional two years later. Missed a month of the 1995 season after being involved in a car crash before the Benson and Hedges International Open. Has won twice in Austria - the Mitsubishi Austrian Open in 1991 and the Hohe Brücke Open in 1994. Missed most of the 1999 season due to a knee injury which required surgery and managed to hold on to his card by a slender margin in 2000. Only managed ten starts in 2001 due to injury and returns in 2002 on a Medical Extension following a wrist operation.
