Never a Dull Moment after Masters Delay
The 2005 Masters Tournament might have been slow to start, but once the season’s first Major Championship did get under way after a storm delay, there was never a dull moment at Augusta National Golf Club as past winner Billy Casper took 106 blows before pocketing his card, three-time champion Nick Faldo withdrew with a back injury and less than a quarter of the field completed their first round before nightfall.
Donald in Touch as Masters First Round is Completed
England’s Luke Donald moved into a strong position on his Masters Tournament debut by returning to Augusta National on Friday morning and playing his last four holes in one under par for a round of 68 and a share of second place with Vijay Singh, one stroke behind leader Chris DiMarco of America.
Donald, Howell, DiMarco Lead as Masters Again Hit by Storms
English Ryder Cup team-mates Luke Donald and David Howell were catapulted into the spotlight at Augusta National as the two Masters rookies moved into a three-way share of the second round lead with American Chris DiMarco before electrical storms put paid to the day’s play at 4pm local time.
Björn Flying High with a Pair of Eagles
Denmark’s Thomas Björn, who came so close to capturing The Open Championship two years ago, muscled his way into contention for the 2005 Masters Tournament thanks to a pair of majestic eagles at Augusta National. Björn equalled his lowest score at August – a five under par 67 – for a total of 138 and second place behind leader Chris DiMarco of the United States.

Thomas Björn will carry the principal hopes of The European Tour in the 2005 Masters Tournament at Augusta National. The Dane returns on Sunday morning along with 43 other players to compete the third round on eight under par, five behind DiMarco and one behind three-time winner, Tiger Woods.
Woods Makes Major Charge at Augusta National
Tiger Woods threatened golf’s record books as the Masters, by tradition, truly got going on the back nine on Sunday. But on this occasion there was a difference – the back nine was the completion of the third round and the leaders teed off at the tenth at 8am!
Woods Captures Fourth Green Jacket after Epic Sunday at Augusta
Tiger Woods bogeyed the final two holes then summoned up a majestic birdie three at the first play-off hole against fellow American Chris DiMarco to capture his fourth Green Jacket on another epic final day which saw European Tour Members Luke Donald and Retief Goosen share third place.
