Now that was a tournament. It may have been tough, but it didn't lack for intrigue, from the first tee shot to Johnnston's clubhouse celebrations.

Congratulations again to Beef. It's been emotional, people. Thanks for joining us, we'll catch you next time.

Over and out.

"It feels very surreal. In practice I thought I would shoot 90, but I picked something up on Wednesday."

And breathe. Wow. Johnston becomes the first winner of a regular European Tour event with an over par score since Ian Woosnam in the 1996 Scottish Open at Carnoustie.

JOHNSTON CONQUERS VALDERRAMA - what a tremendous effort.

Stick around right here and we'll bring you all the reaction, interviews, highlights and more!

13:33

Bogey to finish for Martin Kaymer as the German ends up on five overe par and a tie for sixth. Luiten, meanwhile, holes a very good putt from 12 feet for his par to secure second place on his own. Great effort - close but no cigar. The spoils go to Johnston. What a wild week!

ANDREW JOHNSTON WINS THE 2016 OPEN DE ESPANA!

Luiten cannot convert from the bunker and  that means that England's Andrew Johnston has won his maiden European Tour title! Huge congratulations, great win for a great guy.

13:25

Smooth swing from Joost Luiten from 158 yards out at 18. The calls from the caddie are "be right" but it's slightly short and left and into the greenside trap. Is that it? Luiten will have to hole out from the bunker to force a play-off!

13:20

ANDREW JOHNSTON SETS THE CLUBHOUSE TOTAL AT +1

Serious stones from Andrew Johnston, who gets up and down from a tricky spot at the front of the green, holing a four-footer for his par and a place in the clubhouse on one over par. Will it be enough? Over to you, Joost...

13:19

That is one lovely kick for Joost Luiten, who last won at the 2014 ISPS Handa Wales Open, as the Dutchman's drive at the par four finisher cannons off a tree down the left and back into the short stuff. Chance to fire one close, chance to go for that crucial birdie.

13:14

Great two-putt from Luiten and he will head to the 18th tee on two over par - one behind Johnston. Kaymer, meanwhile, gives his par putt a good go but has to settle for bogey and he slips back to four over and surely out of the tournament.

13:11

Back at the 17th, Luiten can only hack out on to the green and he'll have a titanic birdie putt right across the heart of the putting surface. Kaymer, meanwhile, takes his drop and hits his fourth shot to the back of the green.
