Some of the biggest names in sport, television and entertainment will come together at Wentworth Club on Wednesday May 24 for the BMW PGA Championship Celebrity Pro-Am.
A total of 61 celebrities from across the sporting and show business spectrums will join a world-class field for what has become one of the social highlights of the summer.
Manchester United greats Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Peter Schmeichel, part of the club’s legendary treble-winning 1999 side, are just three of the famous faces who will swap the football pitch for the fairways of the newly-revamped West Course when they partner lifelong Red Devils fan and four-time Major Champion Rory McIlroy.
The competitive juices are sure to be flowing when they tee off shortly after Anfield heroes Robbie Fowler, Jamie Redknapp and Kenny Dalglish, who are set to partner Liverpool supporter and 2018 Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjørn.
A footballing theme also runs through Francesco Molinari’s group - an avid Inter Milan fan – who will be joined by former Chelsea greats Gianfranco Zola, Gianluca Vialli and Andriy Shevchenko, with two-time Major Champion Martin Kaymer teeing it up alongside English greats Matt Le Tissier, Owen Hargreaves and Teddy Sheringham.
Super strikers Alan Shearer and Ian Wright - who between them scored 373 Premier League goals - will have Nottingham Forest fan Lee Westwood and former Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating for company on the West Course.
Former U.S. Open Champion Justin Rose will continue the music theme throughout the day as Westlife heartthrob Brian McFadden and Boyzone’s Keith Duffy join the Olympic gold medallist, with Dragons’ Den stalwart Peter Jones taking the final spot in the illustrious group.
Also gracing the hallowed turf of Wentworth Club will be footballers turned broadcasters Alan Hansen, Robbie Savage and Dwight Yorke, while television personalities Jodie Kidd, Naga Munchetty and Georgie Bingham will hit the greens with Englishman Tommy Fleetwood.
Homeland and Billions star Damian Lewis will make his debut on the revamped course alongside defending champion Chris Wood and returning knights of the realm Sir Steve Redgrave and Sir Matthew Pinsent.
Rugby World Cup winner Mike Tindall and former British and Irish Lions captain Brian O’Driscoll should provide some length off the tee, while former British Number Ones Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski will exchange tennis rackets for golf clubs at the prestigious event.
Cricket is also well represented with Brian Lara, Kevin Pietersen, Allan Lamb, Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad taking part, while record-breaking Champion Jockey Sir AP McCoy will be leading the charge from the world of horseracing.
Film star Dougray Scott will join fellow Scotsman Gavin Hastings when he tees it up alongside Open Champion Henrik Stenson, with television presenters Dan Walker, Piers Morgan and Strictly Come Dancing’s Anton du Beke, also descending on the famous Surrey venue to rub shoulders with some of the world’s greatest golfers.
Tom Chaplin, the lead singer of Keane, returns for another year with founding member of Genesis Mike Rutherford also taking to the course alongside television actor Kelvin Fletcher and London-based Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton.
