Two-time champion Paul Lawrie will play the first two rounds of the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in the company of his protege Sam Locke and 2010 winner Robert Karlsson.

The first of Lawrie's wins here came 20 years ago when he stormed to a seven-shot victory before going on to win The Open Championship at Carnoustie later that year.

The Scot returned to the winner's circle at Doha Golf Club in 2012 and he will be hoping history repeats itself again this week.

Lawrie will get his first round under way at 1200 on Thursday alongside Swede Karlsson and fellow Scot Locke, the Silver Medal winner at last year's Open who is a product of the Paul Lawrie Foundation.

Kurt Kitayama will begin his quest for back-to-back European Tour titles alongside Jordan Smith and 2017 champion Jeunghun Wang when he starts from the tenth tee at 0715.

Rookie Kitayama continued his remarkable start to life on Tour last week, claiming his second victory in just his 11th event at the Oman Open after producing a wonderful comeback at Al Mouj Golf on Sunday.

Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee, England's Ross Fisher and Scotland's David Law also have early starts on Thursday as they begin at 0655.

Brandon Stone, Paul Waring and Bernd Wiesberger start their first rounds at 1130, while 2013 winner Chris Wood will be partnered by David Lipsky and Andrea Pavan at 0705.
