Paul Peterson joined overnight co-leaders Marcus Fraser and Nacho Elvira at the top of the leaderboard early on day two of the Maybank Championship.
The 2016 D+D REAL Czech Masters champion began the day five shots off the lead after posting an opening 70.
But he soon closed the gap, making birdies at the 11th and 18th to reach the turn in 34 before picking up another at the long first hole.
After nearly holing his approach shot at the third, Peterson tapped in for another birdie and he then joined afternoon starters Fraser and Elvira on seven under when he tapped in his ten foot birdie putt at the fifth.
Fellow early starters Masahiro Kawamura and Prom Meesawat were the early clubhouse leaders on five under after they shot rounds of 70 and 71 respectively.
