Last week's Maybank Championship winner Scott Hend will begin his challenge for back to back titles alongside home favourite Shubhankar Sharma and three time European Tour winner Brandon Stone at the Hero Indian Open.

Hend banished memories of previous play-off defeats with a dramatic victory over Nacho Elvira at the first extra hole after play had been suspended due to a thunderstorm as the final round neared its conclusion.

The Australian is back in action at DLF Golf and Country Club this week, starting from the tenth tee at 0745 on Thursday with Sharma and Stone.

India's SSP Chawrasia, who won this tournament in both 2016 and 2017, starts his first round in the company of in form Jazz Janewattananond and Spain's Adrian Otaegui at 1235 on day one.

Elvira came agonisingly close to earning his maiden European Tour victory in Malaysia last week, holing his monster birdie putt at the 18th immediately after a weather delay to force a play-off on Sunday.

He came up just short but is a man in form, having finished in a tie for second at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters two weeks earlier.

The Spaniard will be joined by local hero and 2015 champion Anirban Lahiri and Englishman Chris Wood when gets his opening round under way at 1245.
