After a three week break, the European Tour returns for the Trophée Hassan II in Morocco this week, bringing with it one of the most unique trophies of the year – a decorative dagger.

This week's first prize got us thinking about some of the more unique prizes players have won over the years.

Here are our all-time top ten favourite trophies:

10) Trophée Hassan II

As previously mentioned, the Trophée Hassan II winner is presented with a decorative dagger. This adds to the unique nature of this event as the champion receives the diamond-encrusted dagger from the HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, with the tournament taking place close to the Royal Palace of Agadir.

9) Hopps Open de Provence

Last year Romain Langasque claimed his maiden European Challenge Tour title on home soil at the Hopps Open de Provence. And as the first winner of the event, he also becomes the first name on the rather large and distinctive tee peg trophy.

8) Mallorca Classic

Although this event hasn't featured on the European Tour since 2007, past winners of the Mallorca Classic – including Sergio Garcia, Miguel Ángel Jiménez and José María Olazábal – will never forget the distinctive trophy that was handed over to them during the prize presentation.

7) The Daily Telegraph Damovo British Masters

At first glance, you may confuse the two winners of The Daily Telegraph Damovo British Masters as having just graduated from university. The event was only played twice on the European Tour in 2003 and 2004, at Forest of Arden Hotel and Country Club, with Greg Owen and Barry Lane the only duo lucky enough to graduate.

6) Viking Challenge

Putting the Trophée Hassan II dagger to shame is the rather impressive sword that Clément Sordet was awarded after winning the Viking Challenge on the Challenge Tour. Played in Norway, the event was only hosted once in 2017.

5) Castello Masters

With 34 professional victories, including a Green Jacket, it is fair to say Sergio Garcia has his fair share of impressive trophies. However, we doubt he has one as unique as the “thumbs up” trophy he won at the 2011 Castello Masters where he finished a record 11 strokes ahead of his nearest competitor.

4) Swiss Challenge presented by ASG

Having first featured on the Challenge Tour schedule in 2000, the Swiss Challenge became a permanent part of the schedule in 2006. Not only does the winner make great strides into securing their European Tour card, but they also pick up the rather unique prize of a cow bell. Where else but Switzerland?

3) KLM Open

Although not technically a trophy, Andy Sullivan’s prize for a hole in one at the 2014 KLM Open was, let’s say, different. After holing his tee shot on the par three 15th, the Englishman won a trip to space, along with a spaceship trophy for his mantelpiece.

2) MCB Tour Championship – Seychelles

The final event of the Staysure Tour season takes place at the MCB Tour Championship in the Seychelles, so what could be more fitting than a sea coconut to pick up if you top the leaderboard at the end of the week? Roger Chapman certainly looks happy with his.

1) Nelson Mandela Championship

The Nelson Mandela Championship was an event co-sanctioned by the European Tour and the Sunshine Tour. It was sponsored by the Nelson Mandela Children’s fund, hence why the trophy depicts Mandela reading to a group of children.
